Το τραγούδι γράφτηκε από τους Angus Young , Malcolm Young και Bon Scott , με τον Angus Young να πιστώνεται για τη συγγραφή του riff της κιθάρας.
Οι AC/DC είχαν κάνει αρκετά άλμπουμ πριν και τα προωθούσαν συνεχώς μέσω ενός εξαντλητικού προγράμματος περιοδειών, που αναφέρεται από τον Angus Young ως σε έναν αυτοκινητόδρομο προς την κόλαση , εξ ου και το όνομα.
