Το ” The Musical Box ” κυκλοφόρησε αρχικά στο τρίτο στούντιο άλμπουμ τους Nursery Cryme το 1971. 

Το τραγούδι είναι γραμμένο στο κλειδί του F# major και είναι το μεγαλύτερο τραγούδι του άλμπουμ με δέκα και μισό λεπτά.
