Το ” Say You, Say Me ” είναι ένα τραγούδι που έγραψε και ηχογραφήθηκε από τον Αμερικανό τραγουδιστή και τραγουδοποιό Lionel Richie για την ταινία White Nights .
Το single hit νούμερο ένα στο Billboard Hot 100 των ΗΠΑ και στο διάγραμμα Hot Black Singles της ίδιας έκδοσης τον Δεκέμβριο του 1985.
Έγινε επίσης το ένατο νούμερο ένα του Richie στο Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. Το κομμάτι δεν είναι διαθέσιμο στο άλμπουμ soundtrack της ταινίας , καθώς η Motown δεν ήθελε το πρώτο σινγκλ του Richie μετά την τεράστια επιτυχία του άλμπουμ του 1983 Can’t Slow Downνα εμφανίζεται σε άλλη ετικέτα.
Συμπεριλήφθηκε από την Motown στην κυκλοφορία του Richie το 1986, Dancing on the Ceiling .
Για την ταινία του 1985 White Nights , ένα δράμα μπαλέτου με πρωταγωνιστές τους Mikhail Baryshnikov και Gregory Hines , ο σκηνοθέτης Taylor Hackford ζήτησε από τον Richie να γράψει ένα θέμα τίτλου.
Μη μπορώντας να συνθέσει ένα τραγούδι με το “White Nights” στον τίτλο, ο Richie υπέβαλε ένα demo της μπαλάντας “Say You, Say Me”.Τελικά, ο Χάκφορντ ενέκρινε το τραγούδι και συμπεριέλαβε την ολοκληρωμένη έκδοση στο White Nights .
Σε παραγωγή του Richie και του James Anthony Carmichael , το τραγούδι ηχογραφήθηκε κυρίως στο σαλόνι του Richie. Στο White Nights , το “Say You, Say Me” εισήχθη πάνω από τους τίτλους κλεισίματος.
